Vancity Opens Fundraising Account for Langley Fire Victims
Langley, July 12, 2001 - Vancity Credit Union is helping raise funds for the victims of this week's apartment fire in Langley.
No one was injured in the Tuesday morning blaze at River's Edge Estates in the city of Langley, but many of the building's 48 suites were damaged and as many as 100 were left homeless.
Monetary donations for the victims of the fire can be made to the "River's Edge Estates Trust" at Vancity's Langley branch at 100-20055 Willowbrook Drive. Cash donations will also be accepted at Langley City Hall. Please note that Vancity is not a registered charity and is therefore unable to provide tax receipts for donations.
Mary Pattison, manager of Vancity's Langley Branch, says her team wanted to move quickly to help the people devastated by the blaze. "These people have lost their homes - they've lost everything. I can't imagine what that must feel like. As a business in this community, we felt compelled to work with the residents to help out," she says.
Inquiries about the trust account can be made to Mary Pattison at 877-7230.
