Oct 30: Vancity parties in Victoria

Victoria, October 30, 2003 - Vancity's Victoria Community Branch recently celebrated the grand opening of its new expanded branch at the busy corner of Douglas and Finlayson. The festivities kicked off with a reception in the branch attended by over 100 Vancity staff and board members, politicians, and community and business leaders topped off by a tree planting ceremony to symbolize Vancity's roots in the community. The following day, it was the community's turn to party when 1,500 residents poured into the Vancity parking lot throughout the day to meet the Vancity team, chow down on some free BBQ grilled by Vancity's CEO and master-chef Dave Mowat, get their faces painted, visit with community groups exhibited at the event and catch up with their neighbours.
