North Shore Girls Soccer Club is a not-for-profit community soccer club, providing 3,500 women and girls on Vancouver’s North Shore with an opportunity to play soccer and develop their skills at all levels. There is a desperate shortage of playing fields in North Vancouver, but the soccer club now has an airy new indoor soccer facility thanks to a federal government grant and a loan from Vancity.
The indoor field, known to its creators as The Bubble, is a joint partnership between the soccer club and the North Shore School District. Located on the grounds of Windsor Secondary School, the indoor field was funded by a loan of $650,000 from Vancity, a grant of $766,950 from the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, and the soccer club’s own reserves.
