"When our alumnae have the opportunity to pursue their education, it improves their self-confidence and gives them real independence." – Sarah Franklen, executive director Westminster House.
Thanks to two grants from Vancity, women who have completed Westminster House’s addiction recovery program can pursue further education, ultimately improving their employability and helping them reclaim their lives.
Vancity has provided Westminster House with two grants totalling $20,000. Westminster House, a non-profit organization that offers a holistic recovery model for women, has used the money to help cover some of the education costs for women who have completed its addiction recovery program.
Program alumnae have pursued post-secondary education and training in counselling, addictions abuse counselling and general office skills—ultimately giving them the tools and confidence to improve their employability and make a successful transition to lasting recovery.
