Vancity’s Tamara Vrooman named one of the top CEO’s in BC
October has been a month of big honours for Vancity. We were voted best local employer by The Georgia Straight and now, our president and chief executive officer, Tamara Vrooman has been named as one of BC’s top CEO’s of the year by Business in Vancouver. Here are few highlights of Tamara’s innovative leadership:
- In 2011, Tamara received a YWCA Women of Distinction Award for her values-based approach to business.
- Under Tamara’s leadership, Vancity was invited to join the Global Alliance for Banking on Values.
- In 2014, Tamara participated at a Vatican summit hosted by Pope Francis called The Global Common Good: Towards a More Inclusive Economy.
Business in Vancouver’s annual BC CEO Awards has five categories and Tamara topped the list as best CEO for a major private company. The other winners are:
- Major public company: Paul Hollands, President and CEO, A&W Food Services of Canada Ltd.
- Small to medium private company: John Nicola, Chairman and CEO, Nicola Wealth Management
- Small to medium public company: Edward Wright, CEO, CRH Medical Corporation
- Registered charity: Krista Thompson, executive director, Covenant House Vancouver
The winners will be hounoured at a gala on November 3, where they’ll each share their leadership lessons with an audience of Vancouver's business community.
