For: Vancity was awarded the Best Arts/Entrepreneur Partnership Award. Vancity was nominated by the Vancouver East Cultural Centre, the recipient of the Vancity Award in 2002, where award funds went to the capital campaign to restore the Centre's facilities.

Award: Clean Air Day Award for Outstanding Contribution to Clean Air in the private sector

For: Since 1995, Vancity Credit Union has won in the largest category of the Commuter Challenge almost every year, consistently getting over 90% participation from our large employee base. On Clean Air Day 2004, Vancity employees conducted a "faux protest" in downtown Vancouver marching for clean air. And in 2005, we launched a year-long "Commitment to Carbon Neutrality by 2010" campaign.

For: Nymity Inc., one of Canada's leading privacy research firms, recognized Canadian companies with the most transparent privacy policies by presenting them with the 2006 Top Privacy Policies in Canada Award. The awards were presented to the companies that best provide clear, complete and readily available notice of their privacy policies and practices. Vancity was recognized twice in 2006, for our excellence in corporate privacy. In February, Vancity was ranked in the top five as one of the 2006 Canada's Most Trusted Companies for Privacy Study by Carlson Marketing Canada and the Ponemon Institute.

For: The ranking was based on market research done by Ipsos Reid on behalf of BC Business. It polled hundreds of BC residents asking them which companies they respected the most. Vancity came in second only to the Jim Pattison Group. Social responsibility was a key respect factor for making the list and Vancity was consistently cited by respondents as a leading advocate of social responsibility.
