Vancity opens its doors at Morgan Crossing
Vancouver, May 4, 2010: Vancity announced today the grand opening of its newest Surrey branch, Morgan Creek Community Branch, located at Morgan Crossing (15795 Croydon Drive).
“We're very excited to open our new branch at Morgan Crossing and to offer residents our expert financial advice, while also expanding our support in the Surrey community,” says Barry Osman, Branch Manager, Vancity. “Surrey is growing at a rapid pace, and we are thrilled to open our seventh branch and continue to be part of this community.”
Opening in the new pedestrian mall at Hwy 99 and 24th Avenue, the branch will serve residents of the Morgan Crossing development, and the surrounding area. As with the other Vancity branches, they will be dedicated to supporting the Surrey community. Since 2003, Vancity has provided nearly $2 million in grants through the Shared Success program to the Surrey region, supporting many local organizations and not-for-groups such as the Surrey Food Bank's Gleaning Program and Just Beginnings Flowers, as well as a variety of local area events.
Members of the community are invited to attend Morgan Creek's “Unlock a Better Community” Grand Opening Event on Saturday, May 8th. From 10:00am to 3:00pm, event goers can sample refreshments by Cupcakes™, enjoy the Kids' Zone, and participate in a contest to unlock a big red door. Those people with keys that successfully unlock the door will win one of 50 amazing prizes. All participants will have the chance to win the Vancity Welcome Home grand prize that includes $1,000 towards your mortgage, a personalized home organizing solution, 10,000 my Visa Rewards points, and more.
In keeping with Vancity's long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability, the branch also features a number of green aspects. Some of the branch décor and materials have been sourced from renewable and recycled materials including the countertops, flooring, and carpet tiles.
