Vancity encourages members to vote in board of directors’ election
April 3, 2018, Coast Salish Territory/Vancouver, B.C. –– Vancity credit union today launched its 2018 Board of Directors’ election, with nine members running for three available positions.
Candidates (as they appear on vancity.com) for this year’s election are:
- Bill Chan (recommended)
- Michael Kouznetsoff
- Gary Bizzo
- Gene Blishen (recommended)
- Valentine Wu
- Jan O’Brien (recommended)
- Jacques Khouri (recommended)
- Teresa Conway (recommended)
- Troy Machan
The board of directors determines how Vancity is managed, sets the strategic vision and decides how profits are shared with members and the community.
Members can vote for up to three candidates. To make voting as accessible as possible, Vancity offers voting through the Vancity mobile app, online, or by mail from Tuesday, April 3 until Friday, April 20. And in-branch voting available at all Vancity branches from Tuesday, April 10 to Saturday, April 14.
All eligible Vancity members will receive information about the election by mail. They can also visit www.vancity.com/election for detailed information about the candidates and the election process. Results of the election will be announced prior to Vancity’s Annual General Meeting on May 8.
