A Bread Affair on Granville Island

A Bread Affair is a Langley-based certified-organic artisan bakery and the only bakery in the Vancouver area that bakes 100-mile bread. When demand exceeded production capacity at its Langley bakery, president Pat McCarthy turned to Vancity to finance the bakery’s expansion. Vancity obliged with a line of credit and term loans for asset purchases, including a new oven that allowed A Bread Affair to double its capacity.

Vancity also provided a business term loan for the purchase of a retail property on Granville Island. Another Vancity loan, backed in part by the Canada Small Business Financing Program, will be used for the new equipment the company will need, including a beautiful stone flour mill that Pat describes as a work of art.
