Aboriginal Financial Literacy Committee launches first phase of financial literacy support tools
June 21, 2012 - The Aboriginal Financial Literacy Committee (AFLC), a group of partners who work directly with Aboriginal youth and adults, are pleased to announce the launch of the first phase of financial literacy support tools including the First Nations Financial Fitness Handbook, a facilitator’s guide and CD.
The project, funded by Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, Vancouver City Savings Credit Union (Vancity) and the Public Guardian and Trustee of British Columbia aims to develop and provide culturally sensitive financial literacy tools for Aboriginal clients. Services are provided through the Aboriginal Financial Officers of BC (AFOA) and the First Nations Technology Council.
The Financial Fitness handbook is available from all of the AFLC partners and can be downloaded from the Aboriginal Financial Literacy website via the First Nations BC Portal http://www.fnbc.info/financial-fitness-community-development.
