Vancity recognized at BC Aboriginal Cultural Tourism Industry Awards
Vancity recognized at BC Aboriginal Cultural Tourism Industry Awards
On Thursday, April 4, the Aboriginal Tourism Association of BC honoured Vancity with its Industry Partner Award. This award is presented to a non-Aboriginal business that has shown exceptional leadership in working with Aboriginal tourism entrepreneurs and communities, a commitment to creating partnerships and building tourism development and management capacity with Aboriginal people.
Stewart Anderson, manager of Aboriginal Banking at Vancity, accepted the award on behalf of the credit union at the BC Aboriginal Cultural Tourism Industry Awards gala held during the National Aboriginal Tourism Opportunities Conference in Osoyoos, BC.
"We invest in Aboriginal communities to support them in achieving economic strength and independence," says Anderson. "This award is a great acknowledgement of our work to build strong partnerships with organizations that focus on building the Aboriginal economy and enabling Aboriginal communities to tell their own story."
