Vancity Members Elect Three Directors to Join the Board of Canada’s Largest Credit Union
May 4, 2012 - Vancouver, British Columbia. The results of the 2012 Vancity Board of Directors election have been compiled and Vancity is pleased to announce that Jan O’Brien, Teresa Conway and Greg McDade have been elected to a three-year term as Directors. The new and returning Directors will bring their expertise and values to help guide the credit union in making positive financial, social and environmental impacts in the communities where Vancity members live and work.
“We’re really grateful to the 13 Vancity members who put their names forward as candidates for the board of Canada’s largest credit union,” says Virginia Weiler, Chair of the Board of Directors. “And we send a big thank you to all of our members who exercised their right to choose directors that will help guide how we continue to build our members’ wealth and create sustainable communities.”
The election took place April 3 to 27, 2012. Vancity members voted to fill three Director positions for a three-year term.
This year, Vancity received 18,286 ballots. The following three candidates received the highest total votes cast:

The following is a list of the candidates and votes cast. Five candidates were recommended by the Nominations and Election Committee (which is made up of four members-at-large and two sitting Directors) and accepted by the Board. Candidates were evaluated for the skills and attributes they could bring to the Board of Directors.
