Vancity announces board chair and vice-chair for 2014-2015 term
May 21, 2014, Vancouver, BC— Vancity's board of directors has elected as chair and as vice-chair for a one-year term.
O’Brien was first elected by members to the Vancity board in 2009 and is currently serving her second term. She has served as vice-chair for the past three years. O’Brien succeeds Virginia Weiler who stepped down as chair after three years in the role.
"I'm honoured to be chair of the board and to work with my fellow directors to guide our credit union towards its bold vision of redefining wealth," says O'Brien. "I truly believe in the co-operative philosophy that great things happen when people work together—and Vancity is living proof of that."
Braha, who was recently re-elected in this year's Vancity board of directors' election, first joined the board in 2011 and is now serving a second term.
"As a board, we will continue to have a strong connection with the members and communities we serve," says Braha. "It's our half-million members that enable Vancity to make investments that put people and local communities first to enhance their economic, social and environmental well-being."
In the recent Vancity board of directors' election, Vancity members re-elected Anita Braha and elected new board members Lily Grewal and Theodora Lamb, each for a three-year term. They join current board members Teresa Conway, Allen Garr, Greg McDade, Jan O’Brien, Virginia Weiler and Bob Williams.
