Sharma, Parikh and DeYoung elected to Vancity’s Board of Directors
April 24, 2019, Coast Salish Territory/Vancouver, B.C. — Members of Vancity credit union have elected Niki Sharma, Rita Parikh and Joel DeYoung to the board of directors, each for a three-year term.

Joel DeYoung, a Vancity member for 23 years, has been elected for his first term. |
“Because we’re a credit union, our members have a say in how we operate and help drive our vision forward. We’d like to thank all the Vancity members who voted and, in particular, we’d like to express our sincere appreciation to the eight dedicated members who campaigned to represent our members during this year’s election,” says Theodora Lamb, Chair of Vancity’s Nominations and Election Committee.
During the election, which took place from April 1 to April 18, a total of 13,461 valid ballots and 36,587 votes were cast. Full results from Vancity’s 2019 Board of Directors’ election are:
- Niki Sharma – 7,989 votes
- Rita Parikh – 7,243 votes
- Joel DeYoung – 5,061 votes
- Patrick Nangle – 4,570 votes
- Shawn Mitchell – 4,468 votes
- Sharon Gregson – 3,342 votes
- Stephen Von Sychowski – 2,098 votes
- Mark Pezarro – 1,816 votes
