Strategy & partnerships
Vancity is working in partnership with the British Columbia Co-operative Association (BCCA) and other co-operatives to better understand the scope, scale and needs of co-operatives across the province. This understanding will support Vancity and others’ advocacy on behalf of the sector, to support an environment where co-operative creation and growth is enabled to the fullest extent possible.
Vancity is also developing partnerships to support education and awareness of the co-operative business model, to support the creation of worker co-operatives as an option for business plan succession, and to find new and innovative opportunities to apply the co-operative model –all in the service of supporting a sustainable, just and inclusive society.
Vancity’s relationships with the co-operative movement include the following:
- The British Columbia Co-operative Association, representing co-operatives across the province
- The Canadian Worker Co-op Federation, representing worker co-operatives across the country
- Co-operatives & Mutuals of Canada, representing the Canadian co-operative movement
- The Canadian Co-operative Association, which supports co-operative development in developing countries.
