Vancity to open a new branch at UBC

Wesbrook Village Community Branch will open on May 18 and offer day-to-day banking services and specialist advice

Monday, May 10, 2021, Unceded territories of Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations/Vancouver B.C. – Canada’s largest community credit union is expanding its operations with a new branch set to open on May 18. The Wesbrook Village Community Branch will be Vancity’s first branch at the University of British Columbia’s campus and will be open through Tuesday to Saturday to new and existing members. The branch will be open Monday to Saturday once the province’s state of emergency lifts.

Wesbrook Branch will provide retail and business banking transactions to the public until 5pm and will offer advice appointments up to 7pm Tuesday-Friday, at 3308 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver. Located in the same building as Tapestry, a community for aging neighbours, Vancity’s Wesbrook Village branch is designed with accessibility in mind with height-adjustable wickets and adaptive devices to make the space as inclusive as possible. As with all new Vancity branches, one hundred per cent of the fixtures in the location are fully recycled, including counters, rails, glass, and carpeting. Wesbrook branch will feature community art from local artist, John Ferrie.

"We know how important it is to have a physical presence in our communities, and we’re very excited to expand our branch network and to join the Wesbrook Village community at UBC. We look forward to providing superb services and advice to this community,” said Dave Perri, Vancity’s Chief Member Services Officer.

“Many of our members’ banking habits have changed and they’ve adopted our digital banking services. But that's not all that they want to do – they also want face-to-face contact and expert advice from our teams in our branches,” continued Dave.

• Teller services for cash and cheque transactions are available until 5pm each day. Advice appointments available from 5pm to close.
