Squamish Savings celebrates new branch at Chieftain Centre
Vancouver, May 13, 2010: Squamish Savings is marking its official opening of the new Chieftain Centre branch this Saturday with a lively community celebration.

WHERE: Chieftain Centre Branch at Chieftain Centre Mall

WHEN: Saturday, May 15, 2010
10:00am – 3:00pm
WHO: Members of the Squamish community, Vancity CEO Tamara Vrooman, Squamish Savings board members and branch staff
HOW: Event goers can enjoy free fun for the whole family including balloon twisters, the chance to win great prizes, all the while tasting food from local eateries The Nest, Naked Lunch, Yiannis Taverna, and Sunflower Bakery and Café. All proceeds from the tastings will be going to the Squamish Youth Resource Centre.
WHY: Squamish Savings has been a fixture in the community for 65 years; the new branch is a consolidation of both the Highlands and Downtown branches. The new branch will continue to support and be active in the local community. In 2009 alone, Squamish Savings contributed $141,000, representing 14 per cent of net income as part of the Shared Success program, to supporting many local organizations and not-for-profit groups, as well as a variety of local area events.
